Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. FastBento works without an account, and we never ask for your name or email to use it. Your records live on your device.
How do I back up my records?
A backup is an encrypted file that you save wherever you like. We never receive it.
- Open Settings and choose "Back up now".
- Set a backup password of at least 12 characters, and keep it somewhere safe.
- Choose where to save the .bento file: a folder on your device, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox or any other place your device offers.
- FastBento confirms the backup only after the file is saved.
I forgot my backup password. Can you recover it?
No. The password is not stored anywhere except in your head or your password manager. If you lose it, nobody can open that backup, not even us. If the records are still in the app, make a new backup with a new password straight away.
How do I move to a new phone?
FastBento keeps its records out of automatic iCloud and Google device backups, so a phone restored that way will not bring them. A FastBento backup file is the way to move.
- On the old phone, make a backup with "Back up now" and save the file to a place the new phone can reach, such as a cloud drive.
- Install FastBento on the new phone.
- Open Settings, choose the option to restore from a backup, then pick the file and enter its password.
- Check the preview of what will be restored, and confirm. Nothing is restored until you do.
Can I move between iPhone, Android and the web?
Yes, with a backup file. FastBento backups are designed to open on iPhone, Android and the web, so you can make one on one and restore it on another. There is no live sync between devices.
Can I take my records out of FastBento?
Yes. In Settings you can export your records as CSV or JSON files, which open in a spreadsheet. These files are not encrypted, so keep them somewhere you trust.
How do I delete my data?
Your records exist only on your device, so you decide when they go. In FastBento, open Settings and choose Delete data on this phone (Android), Delete data on this iPhone (iPhone) or Delete data in this browser (web). You can make a backup first if you want to keep a copy. Deleting the app on a phone, or clearing the site's data in your browser, also removes the records from that device.
Backups and exports you saved yourself are not touched: delete those files in the place where you saved them. We do not hold any copy of your records, so there is nothing for us to delete. For anything we hold, such as a support email you sent, write to us and we will remove it.
How do I restore my Lifetime purchase?
Lifetime is tied to your Apple or Google account, not to a FastBento account. On a new phone, sign in to the same Apple ID or Google account and choose "Restore purchases", which you will find in Settings and on every offer screen. Your records are separate: restore them from a backup file.
Refunds for purchases are handled by Apple or Google, under their rules.
I said I was under 18. What happens?
FastBento's fasting tools are for adults aged 18 and over. If you say you are under 18, the app gives you a plain journal only, with no fasting timer, plans or goals. Your answer and your journal stay on your device.
If you chose it by mistake and you are an adult, you can change your answer in Settings.
Is FastBento medical advice?
No. FastBento is a wellness planning and logging app for adults. It does not give medical advice and is not a medical device. Talk to a clinician before you fast if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have had an eating disorder, have diabetes or take medicines that depend on when you eat. You can end a fast early at any time, and you should if you feel unwell.
